The Willie Renshaw Warm The Children Program
It all started when...
the Hopkinsville Club partnered with the Kentucky New Era and the Salvation Army in 1995 to sponsor a national program called "Warm the Children" Project. Every dollar raised is spent to buy new winter clothing for children in need. Each year the Kiwanis Club and a few local volunteers gather with the families to go shopping. To date, over $400,000 has been raised and 4,500 children have been outfitted with new clothes. Watch the video below from 2018 to hear the history of the program as told by longtime Coordinator and former Warm the Children Chair, Willie Renshaw, who passed away in 2021. Shortly after his passing, the club renamed it The Willie Renshaw Warm The Children Program.
